D'ERA SHACK

Studio Assistant/Engineer Assistant

D’era Shack is the Studio Assistant and Engineer Assistant at 4U Recording in Memphis, TN. In this role, she is responsible for organizing studio bookings and managing day-to-day studio operations and income. Shack joined 4U Recording in October 2022 after graduating from Berklee College of Music with a Bachelor of Music in Music Production and Engineering. Her previous experience includes working as an Audio Engineer Intern at Tree Sound Studios and as a Studio Assistant at Berklee College of Music.

Shack was drawn to the field by her desire to break barriers as a Black female engineer in a predominantly male industry. Her passion for music defines a huge part of her identity, and she strongly feels that music provides a sense of serenity that tangible things cannot give. She received the Audio Technica Award in Recognition of Outstanding Achievements in 2021 for her work on various projects during her college career. Outside of work, Shack is also involved in the Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.

Shack currently resides in Memphis, TN. In her free time, she enjoys spending time with her family (especially her nieces and nephews), visiting local businesses, and traveling. Her favorite music genres include R&B, Soul, Neo-Soul, and Hip-Hop, and her favorite artists include Kehlani, Lauryn Hill, India Arie, John Legend, and Usher.
